NHS Nene CCG are hosting a workshop in April for members of the public living in Northampton. This interactive session will provide information about support that is available locally for those living with and caring for, people with mental health issues and addictive behaviours as well as looking at how to maintain your own wellbeing.
NHS Nene and Corby CCGs and Northamptonshire County Council want to hear from people with experiences of Northamptonshire adult mental health services to help them plan for the future. We are reviewing services and developing a new mental health strategy. Your feedback and comments are vital in getting it right.
Dr David Smart, a GP from Northamptonshire and clinical lead for mental health, called for people to get involved in developing mental health services in the county.
“There is no health without mental health and mental health is everyone’s business. It is estimated that one in four of us will experience a mental health problem and this will impact on families, friends, school, work and communities. As a general practitioner I know that good mental health and wellbeing are fundamental to physical health and to achieving our potential. We would like everyone in Northamptonshire to have access to excellent mental health services and we invite people to get involved and tell us what they think about current services and what they would like to see in the future”
We are holding a series of information and listening events in the New Year to enable local people to meet with commissioners of mental health services and have a say in the development of the strategy.
