The Grey Dog Free Indoor Music Festival

This Saturday (August 18th 2018) Northampton's Roadmender will host The Grey Dog, a mental health charity aimed at supporting young people, for a free indoor festival with a difference. The festival is incorporating a mixture of music, spoken word and workshops;  there will be additional activities for children.

Acts performing on the main stage have been selected not only for their musical ability but also because they will talk openly to the audience about their own experience of living with mental illness, caring for someone with mental illness or are passionate about challenging the stigma.

The Grey Dog Trust was set up with the aim of tackling the stigma attached to mental illness and making the conversation about it as natural as talking about physical illness with its focus on young people.

Mental illness can be distressing and makes people feel socially isolated. The event aims to use music to open up the conversation in a way that encourages social inclusion.
