Would you like to volunteer for your local maternity voices partnership?

Would you like to make a difference to your local maternity services?

We are currently recruiting for a Chair Person, Vice Chair, and service user volunteers for Northamptonshire Maternity Voices Partnership (MVP). The MVP is an independent forum for maternity service users, providers and commissioners of maternity services to come together to design services that meet the needs of local women, parents and families in the Northamptonshire area. The MVP is a critical friend to the NHS maternity team.

Members include mums, dads, parents-to-be, grandparents, midwives, health visitors, infant feeding specialists, perinatal mental health experts and members of local community groups who provide services to expectant mums, new parents and their babies.

Two hour meetings are held four times a year in a relaxed atmosphere to encourage everyone to discuss their experiences. Whether you attend once or come to every meeting, these opportunities for discussion are invaluable in helping us develop your local maternity services. Service users also hold their own informal groups in between the full MVP meetings.

I have young children. How can I attend?

Babies and children are welcome at these meetings. We aim to hold meetings in local Children's Centres, where possible. Alternatively, we can reimburse childcare expenses on production of a receipt from an Ofsted accredited childcare provider. We also reimburse travel expenses on submission of a mileage claim form.

Why should I get involved?

Being part of the MVP is a great way for you to express your views on the maternity care received during pregnancy, throughout the birth and postnatal care. We value your views and opinions, as these enable us to shape the future of your maternity services. There are opportunities to meet and talk to other parents either individually or in a group setting about your experiences of maternity care in our area.

How do I get in touch?

If you are interested in being involved, please get in touch by contacting Kashmir via email at kashmir.sangha@nhs.net. More information can also be accessed via the Northamptonshire MVP Facebook page and NHS Nene CCG.
